Our mission and values
Our mission
We put our hearts and energy into raising money that:
-
Provides care for children and families who are affected by genetic disorders
-
Funds ongoing research into the causes and cures for these disorders
In all that we do, we aim to raise awareness and promote understanding of genetics and what it means to be affected by a genetic disorder.
Our values
We promote understanding and tolerance through education
Genetic disorders only affect one in 33 children born in the UK, but genes affect us all. We work to increase awareness and understanding of the differences our genes create.
We put the ‘human’ into human genetics
Genetics is a young but increasingly significant area of science. But it’s also one that can be frightening and misunderstood. Our aim is to make genes and genetics accessible, relevant and not intimidating.
We go out of our way to value and recognise everyone involved with us
We aim that everyone who makes a contribution to Jeans for Genes feels valued, appreciated and recognised. As a small charity we aim to make your relationship with us a personal one.
We are professional and transparent
We want everyone who makes a donation to Jeans for Genes or gives us their time or service, to be reassured that we are a professional and efficient organisation. We will show you how and where we spend the money we raise and answer your questions about Jeans for Genes as fully and as quickly as we can.
We are serious about fun!
We know that the fun of Jeans for Genes Day is one of the reasons you support us. But we never lose sight of the very real reason that the charity exists. We aim to strike a balance between the two.
